Information: Influenza Vaccination for the 2020/21 season

October 13, 2020

To our patients,

The team at Broadway Family Medicine would like to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

It is the beginning of flu shot season and we know (and are thankful) that you are eager to get your flu shots. There are several ways you can receive your flu shots this year.

We have received a very limited number of flu immunizations from Public Health, and will be focusing our efforts on families with children under the age of 5. We are doing this because children under the age of 5 cannot receive their vaccinations from the pharmacy. If you are in this category, please email our office at appointments@broadwayfamilymd.com to arrange an appointment.

Pharmacies are well stocked with both the regular flu vaccine and high dose vaccine for individuals over the age of 65. Many pharmacies are offering online appointment bookings for your convenience.

Toronto Public Health will also be running flu shot clinics, and appointments can be booked through their website as well.

We should be receiving more doses in November, so please check our website for updates.

If you are over the age of 65 and cannot access a high dose vaccine from the pharmacy, you have two options:

  1. Get the regular dose vaccine from the pharmacy, which is reasonable especially if you are healthy with no chronic medical conditions.

  2. Email us to be put on our waitlist for our next shipment of high dose vaccines, which should hopefully be in November.

Due to the volume of calls and emails, our staff cannot respond to any calls, phone messages or emails regarding when and how to get the flu shot. They will be directing you to check our website for updates.

Thank you as always for your support and cooperation. We hope you and your families stay safe and healthy.

All the best,

The Broadway Family Medicine Team
