Shingrix Vaccination Update:

November 22, 2018

Shingrix is a vaccination for herpes zoster virus infection, otherwise known as shingles.

This vaccine is recommended for individuals over the age of 50. There are 2 doses given 2-6 months apart. It is not covered by OHIP.  It is approximately 90% effective at preventing shingles.

Unfortunately, Shingrix is currently on back order.  Our office is attempting to obtain more, however the manufacturer has indicated it may not be available until January or February 2019.

Some pharmacies around the city may still have some available.  If you are due for a Shingrix vaccination, you can call around to see if you can find a pharmacy that has one available.  We will gladly transfer a prescription over to that pharmacy.

For patients of Dr. Munk, Rothman and Shedletzky - We will post an update here when we have Shingrix back in stock at our office.

Thank you for understanding.
